Developing ergonomics

Ergonomics everywhere

The principles of ergonomics and Human Factors are valuable in almost all industries:

  • Defence
  • The importance of Human Factors to the defence sector cannot be overstated.  We have contributed to the Safety and Environmental Case for many different defence programmes, from warships to biological contamination detectors.  We are experienced in the UK MoD's Human Factors Integration processes.  Human error is a major part of most defence safety cases and we have developed sophisticated ways of predicting error rates, based on the industry-standard techniques, HEART and THERP.
  • Manufacturing
  • Improving safety while at the same time enhancing productivity is central to our mission.
  • Railways
  • The train cab is an important area of ergonomics attention because of the crucial interplay of the human operator with the in-cab systems.  We have experience of railway ergonomics from several important projects.
  • Legal
  • Where things have gone wrong and accidents have occurred in the workplace, personal injury Claimants will often need an ergonomics assessment of their equipment and tasks.  We are experienced in providing clear, concise and correct expert witness evidence for the Courts in England & Wales, Scotland and Eire.
  • Older people
  • As we age, it is ever more important that our equipment and environment should match our capabilities.  Interaction of Bath recognises the need for ergonomically designed living spaces for older people.
